Comprehension Check
When you read with your child, ask him/her to retell the story. This is difficult for many children. Use the 5 W's to guide them:
- Who? (name the main characters)
- Where? (where does the story take place?)
- When? (when does the story take place?)
- What? (what events happen in the story?)
- Why? (why do certain events happen; why do the characters react the way they do?)
